About Me

Amy Siegel MA, MLS

I have worked as a university “master teacher” and a middle and high school English teacher; a high school learning specialist; and a private academic coach. I have advanced degrees in Library Science and English, secondary certification, and extensive training in learning differences (including certifications in Orton-Gillingham, and in "Strategies for Learning" (from the neuropsychologist, William Stixrud). I teach Orton-based reading strategies, structured grammar and writing programs and advanced research and writing techniques.  I teach study skills and executive functioning.  I love working with students one-on-one because individualized attention can yield transformative results. I am on the Board of the DC International Dyslexia Association and a member of the Learning Disabilities Association. Please contact me if you would like to learn how coaching can help your student earn grades that better reflect his or her potential.

If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way he learns.
